About Me

Jen Williams lives in London with her partner and their cat. A fan of pirates and dragons from an early age, these days she writes character-driven sword and sorcery novels with plenty of banter and magic, and in 2015 she was nominated for Best Newcomer in the British Fantasy Awards. The Copper Cat trilogy consists of The Copper Promise, The Iron Ghost and The Silver Tide – all published by Headline in the UK – and the first two books in the trilogy are now available in the US and Canada, published by Angry Robot. The Iron Ghost was nominated for Best Fantasy Novel in the 2016 British Fantasy Awards, and she is also partially responsible for Super Relaxed Fantasy Club. The Ninth Rain, the first book in the Winnowing Flame trilogy, was published by Headline in February 2017, and she is partial to mead, if you’re buying.

The cat’s name is Pyra.

  4. Hello
I’m not on Facebook or twitter, as a result im find ing it hard to find any information about public events to promotr your new book! I live in London and would love to attend an event if you’re promoting The Ninth Rain! Is there any way i can find out about any events?

    • Hi Matt
Thanks for saying hello! I suspect I rely too much on facebook and twitter to get the word out – normally, I would have written a blog post summing up events for the book, but unfortunately I’ve been recovering from surgery for the last couple of weeks and I’m not quite on top of things.

I can tell you though that there are two main events for The Ninth Rain: the launch at Forbidden Planet, which is on the 23rd of February, at the London store at 6pm (everyone is very welcome, there will be cookies and pub afterwards) and I will be reading at Super Relaxed Fantasy Club on the 28th. Again, everyone is always welcome at SRFC and we love to see new people. At the moment, we’re still trying to sort out the venue but I will pop up a proper update when I have more details!

I hope that helps, and do say hello if you make it along :)

  5. Thanks so much for getting back to me, I know Forbidden Planet well and will try and make it (work permitting).
Good luck with the launch (although I’m sure you won’t need it), and I hope you are sufficiently recovered from your sugery!
    Thanks again
    Matt
